July 13–19, 2026 What's Growing Now

Deep summer. The fog still burns off by ten, and the stone fruit has taken over. Peaches are running full volume, the first real tomatoes and sweet corn are landing, and the chiles are just starting to talk. This is the richest table of the year.

This week's headline is a peach. Dry Creek Peach & Produce is at or near peak — 30-plus tree-ripened organic varieties, the last dedicated organic peach orchard in the valley. Lavender season closed July 12. Apples are still three weeks out.

Pair the fruit with the glass. Peaches and early tomatoes want a rosé or a bright Sauvignon Blanc — the acid keeps the sugar honest. Corn and pasture eggs sit beautifully next to a lean Chardonnay or a lighter Pinot. Save the structured reds for fall; this is the season for restraint and cold fruit eaten over the sink.

What to Cook This Week

Do less. This is not the season for technique — it's the season for restraint. Buy a flat of Dry Creek peaches and a basket of Tierra's early tomatoes and build a single plate: sliced peach, sliced tomato, good olive oil, flaky salt, torn basil, and a wet young cheese if you must. That's dinner. Pour a rosé or a Sauvignon Blanc — the acid is what keeps all that July sugar from going flat.

If you're cooking with fire, char Tierra's fresh chiles the same day you buy them, peel them warm, and fold them into anything — eggs from the Wise Acre machine, sweet corn off the cob, a pot of shelling beans. And if you get boysenberries from Kokopelli, make one pie and don't overthink the crust. The fruit is the whole argument.

How This List Was Chosen

Built from the Sonoma Chef farm-stand and farmers-market inventory, cross-referenced against the mid-July seasonal calendar and this week's verified status notes. Peak-produce calls reflect what's actually in the ground and on the tables right now — stone fruit at its high point, the first tomatoes and corn arriving, chiles ramping, coastal berries closing out, apples not open until August 1.

A note on limits: several small property stands — Middleton, Crane Creek, Annadel, Bloomfield, Watmaugh, Laguna, William Tell — carry a needs-verification flag and have no confirmable web presence, so they're held off this list; phone-verify before driving. Live "what's on the table today" inventories aren't published anywhere for Tierra Vegetables or Dry Creek Peach — the peak calls above are seasonal expectation plus confirmed market presence, not a scraped stock list. And petalumafarmersmarket.com is compromised as of this week — use ourfarmersmarkets.org for Petaluma market data. Sources: farmtrails.org, ourfarmersmarkets.org, drycreekpeach.com, tierravegetables.com, singlethreadfarms.com, and the individual farm sites linked in each card.
